The failure of drives, motors, pumps, or fans is usually indicated by the occurrence of vibration and temperature changes. With the Multi Physics Box condition monitoring sensor – MPB for short – Sick presents for the first time a sensor solution specially designed for condition monitoring. The compact MPB simultaneously monitors vibrations, shocks and temperatures on drives, motors, pumps, conveyor systems and other critical components. Changes in condition are detected at an early stage – allowing potential malfunctions and failures of machines and processes to be avoided in a targeted manner. The MPB10 in a space-saving and robust stainless-steel housing up to protection class IP68 has two integrated, three-axis measuring MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) elements, with which vibrations up to ±8 g and shocks over 200 g can be detected. For thermal monitoring, the sensor is specified for contact temperatures from -40 °C to +80 °C. The MPB can be flexibly mounted and quickly and easily parameterized via SOPAS and IO-Link. Limit values for vibration, shock and temperature can be individually adjusted – the MPB also offers the option of setting up a multi-stage alarm for standard-compliant monitoring of threshold values in accordance with ISO 10816-3. At the same time, the measured values of the Multi Physics Box create a valid data basis for applications and digital solutions in the field of condition monitoring.
